How to Make Your Hair Extensions Last 12+ Months
Share
Raw human hair is an investment — and treated well, a good set of bundles can last a year or more and actually get softer over time. The difference between hair that lasts three months and hair that lasts twelve usually comes down to a few simple habits.
Wash gently, and not too often
Over-washing strips the hair's natural feel. Aim for once or twice a week using a sulfate-free shampoo. Work it through in a downward motion rather than scrubbing or piling it on top of your head, which causes tangling.
Always condition
Because extensions aren't attached to your scalp, they don't get your hair's natural oils. Conditioner replaces that moisture. Use it every wash, focus on the mid-lengths and ends, and rinse with cool water to keep the cuticle smooth.
Dry with care
Air-drying is best. If you're short on time, use a low heat setting and a heat protectant first. Never brush hair while it's soaking wet — wait until it's damp, and work from the ends up to the roots with a wide-tooth comb or loop brush.
Protect it from heat
Raw hair takes heat beautifully, but daily hot tools still add up. Always use a heat protectant, keep temperatures moderate, and give the hair rest days when you can.
Store it properly
When you're not wearing your extensions, keep them laid flat or hung — never balled up in a drawer. At night, loosely braid or tie back installed hair to prevent overnight tangling.
The short version
Wash less, condition always, dry gently, protect from heat, and store it flat. Do that, and your C Beauty hair will reward you for a long time.
